Uploading your documents
To drive using the Driver app, you are required to upload certain documents to get your account set up. Refer to the information below when uploading each document.

These documents are required across the US, but if you visit a local Greenlight Hub or review your city's local information, you can get potential additional requirements for driving on the Uber platform.

Make sure all required details are clearly visible
Ensure that your document contains all required details before uploading. The entire document should be clearly visible.
Upload your driver's license first
This will speed up the approval process when we need to cross-check your license with other documents.

Submit original documents only
We do not accept photocopied documents, so please make sure you only upload originals.
It may take up to 48 hours for your documents to be reviewed and verified.
Getting a TNO license
Uber registers for the TNO license on behalf of all people who drive with Uber. If we're unable to register on your behalf, we'll contact you. You may conduct trips in Maryland while your application is pending.
We'll submit your information
No immediate action will be required on your part. The Maryland Public Service Commission will review your information before granting you a license.
You may conduct trips while your information is being reviewed.
The license will be issued electronically
Once issued, license information must be in your possession whenever you're operating your vehicle for hire.
Frequently asked questions
- How do I get a new vehicle approved?
Every new vehicle needs to be registered with the Maryland Public Service Commission.
Once you have sent us a picture of your vehicle registration, insurance, and state inspection, we will send the new vehicle application to the commission. You may pick up riders in Maryland while your application is pending.
- I just got a new vehicle. Do I still need to get it inspected?
Yes. Even new vehicles must have a state inspection certificate. If you already have an up-to-date VA, MD, or PA state inspection certificate, there is no further action required on your part. Please make sure you upload a clear photo of your inspection certificate.
- Can I get in-person help?
Of course. Feel free to stop by one of our Uber Greenlight Hubs for in-person support.
- What if my application was rejected by PSC?
For inquiries into why an application was rejected, you may contact the Maryland Public Service Commission.
- Can I continue to drive on the Uber platform in Maryland without a TNO license?
No. The Maryland Public Service Commission requires TNC drivers to have either a pending application or a TNO license in order to do trips within Maryland.
